ISP Innovations and "User Interfaces"
Internet systems were created well before the Internet became widespread,
it was actually never envisioned that Networking Systems would ever have
to be configured by non programmers, so the syntax is extremely terse and
sometimes ambiguous, and therefore hard to use.
Here are our "solutions" to the "problems with
text files"
- MISTAKES? NO MORE!
No more mistakes!
The solution here is simple. Human beings are not allowed to type into
text files. There must be "perfectly designed" programs to do it. This
means your customers always have perfectly configured services. And
perfectly configured services mean no telephone complaints which
translates to more money in your pocket, both from employees answering
support calls, and customers who remain *satisfied* customers longer.
Designing a "perfect" program is not easy, but that is what are goals are.
- TIME CONSUMING? NO!
No longer! Our systems can usually accomplish the
task in under 5-10 seconds, at most 1 to 3 minutes, if there are a lot of
pieces of information to enter. This is real money in your pocket if you pay
people by the hour.
- VERY COMPLEX? NO!
No longer! Our systems are aimed at non-programmers, and are fully
self-documenting, with many "are
you sure" questions, so that almost anyone on your staff can do the job
"perfectly". Additionally, the full capabilities of the
service are
completely described in detail, with help screens, so that the untrained
user has all of the power they need at their fingertips.
- GUARANTEES? YES!
We *have* guarantees. The systems always verify in real time immediately
after configurations are finished, that the configurations were
successful. This way the person configuring the service can always stand up knowing the customer's
new service *is* guaranteed to work, as they have seen it tested in front
of their own eyes.
- In addition to this, we offer other "testing" programs which
can be run to "Check services"
- See the "Super-Monitor" section for details on how the services
can be checked transparently, and even restarted automatically if
needed.
